CES, short for Consumer Electronics Show is an annual trade show organised by the Consumer Technology Association which was held earlier this month in Las Vegas, USA. The event always attracts very large and diverse audiences from across the globe and tech enthusiasts look to events like this to find the coolest and most innovative tech that big tech companies, startups and developers have to showcase.
Last year's CES introduced us to many new smart devices, innovative wearable gadgets and gave us a look at how the future of transportation could look like, this year's event has a lot more weird and wonderful gadgets in store.
CES 2018 has ended, with thousands of people who've attended and hundreds of impressive and innovative tech that we got to see, so everyone, here are my top 20 most innovative tech announcements of CES 2018.
• Sennheiser ambeo 3D soundbar
Known for creating audio masterpieces with its headphones sennheiser is digging deeper into the audio world debuting the Ambeo 3D Soundbar earlier last month at the Consumer Electronics Show or CES, Las Vegas. At first sight the Soundbar looks like an early prototype with some speakers and internal parts left exposed with a black design-less housing.
But when it's powered on, it definitely delivers. The Atmos powered Soundbar has a 5.1.4 channel configuration, has 13 drivers and has four height channels that help to give it a truly spacious feel.
• Intel optane 800p SSD memory

• Intel optane 800p SSD memory
The long awaited consumer version of the Intel optane SSD was announced at CES by Intel. Intel mentioned that two models of the 800p SSD will be shipped : a 58gb version and a 118gb version. Both will be bootable and are rated to be able to write more than 200gb per day.
The 800p is the third in the Optane Drive series and is expected to start shipping out a few months from now.
• Dynamics wallet card
The E-ink display enables card owners to use their cards to perform various functions and the card can easily be reprogrammed to different payment providers.
• Peloton Treadmill
The Peloton tread is a sleek new treadmill from Peloton that comes with a huge 32-inch touchscreen display, a powerful sound bar and is equipped with software tools and accessories that immerses users in lots of exercise content.
The treadmill costs a huge $4000. You can preorder one here. It's expected to start shipping out around September.
• HTC Vive Wireless Adapter
HTC in collaboration with Intel unveiled their Vive wireless adapter for the Vive and Vive pro VR headsets. The device uses Intel's 802.11ad ‘WiGig’ 60 GHz transmission technology and DisplayLink's XR codec.
Units are expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2018 but a price has yet to be announced.
• Hyperkin Gameboy
Video game peripherals company Hyperkin unveiled the 'ultra gameboy' at CES. The ultra Gameboy improves on Nintendo's original technology but still maintains the classic feel of the original Gameboy. It has an aluminum housing, a built-in six hour lasting battery and a USB-C charging port.
Hyperkin hopes to have the Gameboy ready for stores around August and is expected to sell at less than $100.
• Sony Xperia L2 & XA2
Sony announced their new mid-range smartphones of 2018 at CES, Las Vegas.
Xperia L2:
The Sony Xperia L2 comes with a 5.5" display, a 13 megapixel back camera and an 8 megapixel front camera, 3gb of RAM and 32gb of internal storage. It runs on Android 7.1 and is powered by a 3300mAH battery and it costs $249.
Xperia XA2:
The Xperia XA2 comes with a 5.2" display, a 23 megapixel
back camera and an 8 megapixel front camera, 3gb of RAM and 32gb of
internal storage. It runs on Andoid 8.0 and is also powered by a 3300mAH
battery and it costs $349.
• Panasonic FZ950 & FZ800![]() | |

Panasonic promises to bring Hollywood to your home with the high-end FZ800 & FZ950 OLED TV's. They come with 4k resolution and HDR support and are armed with the latest iteration of Panasonic's Hollywood-tuned HCX video processor which should give them huge performance improvements. They also bring more color accuracy improvements.
The FZ800 and FZ950 share many characteristics and are virtually the same TV. Both are available in 55 and 65 inches. A price or a release date has not been announced by Panasonic yet, but it is expected to be announced this month at the Panasonic Convention.
• Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018)
The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) offers unique features that you'd normally find in the more expensive latest Galaxy S phones at a much lower price. The Galaxy A8 also comes with a decent spec sheet with a 5.6" Super AMOLED panel, 4gb of RAM, 16MP 1080p primary camera, 16+8MP dual front camera, 32 or 64gb internal storage, a 3000mAH battery, Samsung Bixby and Android 7.1.1 nougat. A price has not been announced by Samsung, it's expected to be released a few months from now.
